ABOVE: The gangs are all here in the Juniors.
North out in front, Currie juniors close behind
Dale Ellis, Lincoln and Button, North
made a significant push forward and
looked dangerous before Walker and Youd
mopped it up and retreated to the centre.
Warner, straight off the bench with
fresh legs, quickly took it from the centre
bounce and pierced it through to Joel
‘Mole’ Williams, who took a great grab
and landed 昀氀at on his back but went back
and quickly converted another for Currie.
Out of the centre again and with no
opponent to speak of, Warner sent it
Currie’s way—slower to convert this time,
but they locked it in their forward line.
Walker had a crack and hit the point post.
Hunter took a hanger at centre half-back
and went forward to Lincoln, who hit the
goal post. North continued to achingly
inch toward their 昀椀rst goal of the game
as the 昀椀nal break siren sounded, leaving
them still without a major for the game.
Bellchambers immediately got the ball
out of the centre at the start of the 昀椀nal
quarter to Bell then Beecroft. Bo Reed
won a one-on-one against Jack Worrall
and sent it North’s way, but Williams and
Warner weren’t having it and quickly
retrieved it to Currie’s advantage.
Button attempted another for North, to
no avail. Hunter stripped it from Bellchambers in the centre and hit Button on
the chest, who passed it into Sutton, and
the stalwart 昀椀nally found North’s 昀椀rst.
Walker sauntered from the bench and
took the intercept mark from a kick-in,
passing it to a Worrall mark, who lined it
up and found the goal post. Currie, in the
last half of the quarter, saw most of the
play in their forward line. Beecroft found
the goalpost, and Aaron Smith got another

Into Currie’s waiting arms
behind. Between both sides, it felt like
there may have been more posters in this
game than throughout the whole season.
With the leading goal kicker trophy in
contention, the pressure may have been
felt. Button passed to Brett Noonan,
who kicked it into the wing for North
in another forward attempt. Despite the
surging scoreline, North continued to
defend and feed into their forward area,
contending strongly in the middle.
Graham, after narrowly missing an
agile mark, recovered quickly, wheeled
around, and goaled for Currie to see him
draw level with Harrison Lincoln in the
goal-kicking. Bell from the centre gave
Aaron another chance but fell short.
Williams, agile through the middle,
pushed forward for Currie late. The
afternoon chill set in, making it close to
curtains down before Currie could in昀氀ict
any more damage. The 昀椀nal siren mercifully sounded.
Coming off the back of a win last week,
North, while 昀氀ickering with potential,
never quite contended meaningfully. Next
week they meet Grassy in the semi-昀椀nal.
The penultimate game of the season is
often the most hotly contested. Both teams
have built up during the season and have
experienced some injuries, but if they are
both able to 昀椀eld their best lineup, it be a
昀椀recracker next Saturday. Currie have a
rest as they 昀椀nished on top of the ladder
and are straight into the grand 昀椀nal.
In the juniors, North 昀椀nished on top of
the ladder, seeing them go straight into
the grand 昀椀nal. Currie and Grassy will
play off in the semi to determine who will
take them on.
